Product Updates – Mailtrap https://mailtrap.io Modern email delivery for developers and product teams Tue, 07 Oct 2025 10:37:03 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://mailtrap.io/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/cropped-favicon-1-32x32.png Product Updates – Mailtrap https://mailtrap.io 32 32 Manage Setups with Multiple Teams with Organization and Sub-Accounts https://mailtrap.io/blog/organization-and-sub-accounts/ Tue, 07 Oct 2025 10:37:02 +0000 https://mailtrap.io/?p=49480 Mailtrap has officially released Organization & Sub-Accounts, which can help you manage multiple accounts under a single organization entity, enable better resource sharing across accounts, and streamline permission structures for future scalability.

Separate email activity

Now, you can separate email activity by project, app, client, or team. This allows you to:

  • Separate sending data and statistics.
  • Avoid mistakes like sending emails to users of a different app or project.
  • Monitor issues in one sub-account without noise from others.
  • Test emails in isolated environments.

Specific user permissions

Each sub-account can have its own set of users with specific permissions. That means:

  • Developers can work on their project without access to other sending projects.
  • Clients or external contractors can access only selected resources.
  • Organization Admins can access and manage all sub-accounts.

Tip: You can find the description of account-level roles in our dedicated article

Better organization and management

When you’re managing multiple apps or clients, sub-accounts help keep things tidy since:

  • Each sub-account has its own credentials, API keys, and configurations.
  • Logs, analytics, and deliverability metrics are scoped to just that sub-account.
  • It’s easier to debug and optimize performance per use case.

How the feature works

Let’s say you run a SaaS company with 3 apps and want to create sub-accounts for each tenant in order to give them a secure, isolated, email-sending environment under one system.

In that case, you could create 3 sub-accounts under your Organization, each with its own SMTP credentials, logs, and settings. Your dev team can work on App A without affecting App B, while your ops team can monitor deliverability separately for each app.

Now You Can Send Targeted Campaigns with Mailtrap Contacts https://mailtrap.io/blog/send-targeted-campaigns-with-mailtrap-contacts/ Mon, 21 Oct 2024 14:08:51 +0000 https://mailtrap.io/?p=36480 From now on, Mailtrap customers can use Contacts & Lists to upload, store, and organize their contacts to send impactful email marketing campaigns.

Create fields

Configure fields before uploading your contacts so you can map them easily afterward. Create custom fields manually and use them to send personalized campaigns.

Creating custom fields in Mailtrap

Upload contacts

To upload your contacts, all you need is a CSV file populated with your recipients’ data. Easily import it to Mailtrap. Then, map the contact fields such as email, first name, city, etc.

You can update your contacts, add or remove them from lists, or delete/unsubscribe them.

Arrange contacts into lists

Once the contacts are uploaded, group them into lists based on their interests, demographics, behavior, or other segmentation criteria.

Adding contacts to lists: Cat owners and dog owners

For example, create lists such as ‘dog owners,’ ‘cat owners,’ or ‘parrot owners.’ Add one recipient to multiple lists if needed.

Send targeted campaigns

Create targeted campaigns that make a difference. Include or exclude specific recipients or lists. Additionally, you can always integrate an AI-powered call center platform to extend these targeted campaigns with automated voice outreach and follow-ups.

Including and excluding lists from Email Marketing campaigns

Say you want to send a promotional campaign to dog owners only. For that, you just need to include the ‘dog owners’ list and exclude the ‘cat owners’ list. Then, send a campaign right away or schedule it for later.

Drag-and-drop email builder

Previously, you could only build/edit email templates with an HTML code editor.

Now, we also have a drag-and-drop email builder that doesn’t require any coding. You can easily build your designs from scratch or choose the desired template from our library.

The drag-and-drop editor comes with AI-powered Smart Headings, Smart Text, Smart Buttons, and Magic Image, as well as versatile options for building responsive designs.

Building an email template with Mailtrap drag and drop editor

Similar to HTML code editor, drag-and-drop editor supports variables, enabling you to personalize your emails whether you’re sending transactional, bulk, or marketing emails.

Easier integration

We’ve also introduced several improvements to simplify the integration of Email Templates with Email API/SMTP and Email Testing.

When you create a template, you can go to the Integration tab and switch between products from there. You’ll see all the necessary credentials within one tab.

Integrating Mailtrap Templates using Email API/SMTP and Email Testing

This means that you can easily test the template in staging with Email Testing and, once it’s refined, send it on production using Email API/SMTP.

Learn more about email templates and their integration here

Testing template variables

When you trap your templates in the Email Testing sandbox, you have the option to view and validate all the template variables. This information is available in the Tech info tab.

You’ll also find the template name with a link to easily access and modify the template if needed.

Testing and sending templates with API

Now all our APIs, Email Sending API, Bulk Sending API, and Email Testing API support templates.

You can use them with any programming language that supports HTTP requests. The detailed RESTful API docs are available here

Updated templates are available for all our users.
